Briana Bruin
Hello HFCS families! My name is Briana Bruin and I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community to serve your families as the new second grade teacher. This year I am returning to teaching after taking some time off to homeschool and stay home with my two kids. Although we loved homeschooling, I have been called to the classroom once again
and we couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to be here! The divine timing of it all had been a true blessing in our lives. It all started after we took a ten month road trip around the country in our camper and then decided to leave the front range of Denver and move to Mesa. Although it was a big change at first, we have fully embraced being on the West Slope! My family and I love being outdoors. Camping, fishing, and going for trail rides in our side by side are some of our favorites. I love traveling when I can, participating in the Well Read Mom book club and most recently, playing pickleball!
After graduating high school I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do so I took a summer job at a daycare. Over the course of that summer it became clear that I wanted to teach. I first pursued a degree in Early Childhood Development with certification to be a preschool director. After a few years in preschool, I continued my education and received my BA in Elementary Education from Regis University. Then I student taught in Conifer, Colorado and stayed teaching there until we moved to Mesa five years ago. This will be my fifth year teaching and my fourth year teaching second grade. I absolutely love this age group because students are becoming more independent, acquiring more challenging skills academically and starting to discover their own unique passions and gifts to share with the world.
I look forward to getting to know everyone. I hope to build strong connections and partnerships with you , and most of all I’m excited to share this year with all of you to help your students reach their full potential both academically and in their faith.
