Summer Assignments

It has been so fun watching the kids grow this year. Summertime is a great opportunity to KEEP GROWING. Setting aside time for reading, math, and meditation should be built into the summer routine.

Students should be reading or listening to audiobooks every day, for a minimum of 20 minutes. It is crucial that they enjoy this time, and they continue to cultivate a love for reading.

Students should also be practicing math facts (basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). 35 minutes a week of focused practice is enough. That can be spread out to just 5 minutes a day!

We have been meditating each day. The science behind the benefits of meditation is VAST. Kids who meditate have improved attention and improved emotional regulation (Microsoft Word - misp-research-summary-5.5.2012.docx (mindfulnessinschools.org)Meditating a few times a week is a great summer goal. Below, I have listed a couple links for guided meditations.

Lastly, students should review math concepts. There are tons of great workbooks for the summer between 3rd and 4th. Online math games are also an option.

Please practice keyboarding at least 20 minutes per week to keep your skills sharp.

You may access Typing Quest through Symbaloo HERE.

If you have an alternate keyboarding program that teaches similar skills you may use that as well.
